International Expo

October 6, 2008

This past Wednesday I had the opportunity to attend the International Student Association’s (ISO) International Expo held on Library Lawn. It was AWESOME! I was so excited to see people from around the world converging on our campus to share their cultures with all the OSU students. Certain student associations were selling food or crafts from their home countries, others were performing dances or musical numbers, and others, still, were donning their native costumes.

Sure, all of these students are here everyday, but usually they’re just going about their ordinary, everyday business. But Wednesday was no ordinary day. For just a few hours on Library Lawn, these students who have moved away from their families and sacrificed so much, got a chance to show off what makes them who they are. I was humbled to be able to be a part of such a great experience.

The crowd gathered on the lawn.

Playing the Malaysian drum with my friend, Phuong (ISO president).

My friends, Katie H. and Katie G., were nice enough to join me!

About to enjoy my delicious Vietnamese cuisine!
