HAPPY HOMECOMING!
October 20, 2008
If you didn’t get a chance to come back to campus this weekend, you missed out, big time! Stillwater was electrified by tens of thousands! There was so much build up all across campus last week and homecoming culminated this weekend with an amazing walkaround, pep rally, parade and football game. Of my three homecomings so far, this one was definitely the biggest and one of the most organized. There were so many people at walkarounds! Gallagher-Iba reached maximum capacity for the Homecoming and Hoops event. I got to walk in the parade between the two nicest cars in the parade and hand out candy for the OSU Foundation. And the Cowboys laid it on the Baylor Bears heavy!
The theme this year was Generation Cowboy, which I think was a great idea. I think it inspired people to bring out their entire families. I saw babies, youngsters, teenagers, students, parents and grandparents. There really were many generations of Cowboys that came out to support OSU. It just goes to show that orange is more than a color. It really brings us together as a community; something we can all stand for and be proud of. In this time of such immense growth at the university, it was reassuring to see how much support we have from so many people.
