Back in Full Swing

January 26, 2009

Every thing is back to full swing here in Stillwater. All of the back to school issues have been addressed and classes are going well. I’ve got more reading to do this semester than I have since probably about the 10th grade. Two different literature classes, a media style and structure class, and an economics class will do that to you! But surprisingly enough, I’m actually enjoying all the reading. I honestly never thought I would ever say that. But my professors are all really good at relating what we are reading to relevant things going on in class and in the world today. Specifically Dr. Manzer, my marketing professor, does a great job of passionately relating his lessons to situations that are bound to come up in life. He has been at the university a long time, and I’m so glad that I have the privilege of learning from him.

My stack of books waiting to be read.

In addition to class, you all know that I’m heavily involved on campus. The Student Foundation is making waves of progress for our annual scholarship fundraising campaign! We’re lining up sponsors, finalizing venue details, and investigating the most effective advertising tools to ensure good participation. Also, the Student Union Activities Board has had a great first few weeks. My first event of the semester, Back 2 School bingo, had more than 200 people in attendance! And one lucky student won himself a portable navigation system.

Our t-shirt design for the scholarship campaign this year! It looks so good!

This next week looks like it’s going to be just as busy as SUAB is having new member interviews on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then a member retreat on Sunday. Look forward to pictures from that in next week’s post.

GO POKES!
