There's Something Good In Every Day

Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day. - Anonymous.
Between the football game and a flat tire, there were a few unexpected surprises this week, but I feel optimism is the key to seeing the bigger picture and not letting things get you down.
My first round of exams were this week and it was a nice test for my study skills as well. It's hard to know exactly what to expect on a first test, so I find that overstudying is always the way to go. I'm anxious to see the results, and to get my sleep schedule back on track.
On Wednesday I visited a freshman orientation class on behalf of the 2008-2009 HES Scholar Leaders. We worked on a project during the course of last year that we felt would benefit the freshman CHES students in some way. We thought that it would be neat if there was a way for us to give them tips/advice on certain things that as freshman we wish we would've known. Also, influencing this group in a positive way, since freshman year is a big adjustment with many challenges, was important to us. In the end, we decided we wanted to send out very brief monthly e-mails that contain an inspirational quote, a piece of advice about OSU or Stillwater, and a little about the Scholar Leader that wrote the particular e-mail that month. This past week, all of the Scholar Leaders made an announcement in each CHES Freshman Orientation class about who we are and the e-mails that they would be receiving.
Thursday definitely added some excitement to my week. Recently, Abby Fox asked me if I would be interested in being featured for the article, “A Day In the Life of an OSU Student,” for the December issue of “STATE” Magazine. I jumped at the chance! I was extremely honored to be considered for this article. She informed me that she would be writing the article and therefore, would need to shadow me for a day. So we set the date for September 10th and Abby arrived at my room bright and early to accompany me through my daily routine. Except for some awkward picture taking (haha) it was really just like hanging out with a friend all day, she's always so great to be around! Although she was the one taking pictures, I did manage to get a picture of her!
Everyone has “off” days....and despite Saturday's game I know a promising season lies ahead for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. With the players' hard work and the spirit that OSU is known for, there's no doubt we have more thrilling football in sight.
The interviews for the freshman members of the OSU Student Foundation were held on Sunday, the 13th. It was only last year that I was sitting in their exact spot. Participating from the other perspective in the interview process made me realize how much I've grown over the past year. A significant part of that can be credited to the numerous opportunities that were made available to me through the OSU Student Foundation. Here's a picture of us during the interviews.
GO POKES!

Hey, that was interesting,
Thanks for sharing,
Keep up the good work
